Be Aware of Cosmetic Ingredients

Living a healthier lifestyle is what we are all about. That includes not only what you put in your body but also what you put on it. Items such as lotion, skincare, and makeup get absorbed into the body. Skin is not an impenetrable barrier. If you stay in a bathtub too long the skin absorbs water which makes the skin wrinkles. That is why it is important that not for companies to disclose all ingredients but that consumers must pay attention to them.

Researchers from Environmental Defence tested cosmetic products from six average women. After testing they found that every single product had at least one of the seven heavy metals: arsenic, cadmium, lead, nickel, beryllium, thallium, and selenium. 96% of those products contained Lead which is a know neurotoxin. Advised by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention exposure of lead is not safe at any level. Lead poisoning can affect nearly every system in the body. Lead poisoning often occurs with no obvious symptoms so it frequently goes unrecognized.

The Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 was established to ensure that the cosmetics industry disclose all contaminants of products, including heavy metals. Heavy metals can build up overtime in the body and cause serious health hazards.


We recommend you do your research on your cosmetics. A good book to keep for reference for different ingredients that you have no clue what they are is "A Consumer's Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients."
